Famous for Ned Kelly

Beechworth has many llinks to this legendary bushranger.  He was committed to stand trial for murder at the Beechworth Courthouse while Woolshed Valley, close to Beechworth, is also the site of several famous locations from the Kelly era.

The Courthouse is part of the historic Beechworth Precinct containing th Gold Office, Police lock-up, Police Stables and many other 19th century government buildings.  it offers an amazing insight into life on the goldfields.
