Come on a journey through the Snowy Mountains Scheme at Murray 1 Visitor Centre and Power Station.

 Enjoy the interactive models, displays and films before joining one of the 20 minute power station inspections. Take a break in the coffee and souvenir shop or cook up a storm using the free BBQ facilities by the pond!

The Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme is an integrated water and hydro-electric power facility. Built by more than 100,000 people over 25 years, the Scheme features seven power stations, 16 major dams and 145 kilometres of trans-mountain tunnels. The Scheme is owned and operated by Snowy Hydro, the Australian Energy Market Operator’s third largest generator by capacity. Snowy Hydro provides peak electricity and electricity insurance contracts to the market.

Power Station Inspections 11am and 2pm

Summer -

October - April, 9:00am - 4:00pm Monday to Friday,

10:00am - 4:00pm Saturday and Sunday and Public Holidays.

Winter -

May to September, 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday.

Closed Christmas Day, Anzac Day and winter weekends
